Gianluca Ruiz de Cardenas is the inventor of Pinot Noir vinified in red Oltrepo Pavese. Prior to his intuition, dated 1981, the Pinot Noir was space only in blends for sparkling wine or sparkling versions unconvincing. Ruiz de Cardenas, a lover of Burgundy wines, bought his first vineyard in Casteggio in 1979 with the desire to demonstrate the importance of work in the vineyard to produce wines of great quality.
