Lugana Ottella 2021

Otella's Lugana is a territorial expression of great charm and personality, marked by a fine freshness and sapidity. Lugana is the undisputed protagonist of the territory south of Lake Garda, between the provinces of Brescia and Verona. The mild climate and soils of clay and limestone sedimentations have proved perfect for growing white grapes. The area's main grape variety is Trebbiano di Lugana or Turbiana, genetically almost identical to Trebbiano di Soave and Verdicchio. In this particular terroir, it expresses itself with excellent results, giving fresh, fruity and mineral wines, capable of evolving over time toward tertiary notes that develop hints of hydrocarbons. Cantina Ottella has always worked to bring to the glass the typical characteristics of the grape, combined with the mineral notes of the soils, to create a Lugana of great typicity and directness.

The grapes of Lugana Ottella come from the estate's vineyards cultivated in San Benedetto, on fine white clays rich in limestone. After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo a soft pressing. The free-run must is started to ferment at a controlled temperature in stainless steel containers. The wine then rests on its fine lees for about 5 months, again in stainless steel, before being bottled and put on the market after a short aging in the bottle.

Lugana presents itself in the glass with a brilliant straw yellow color. The olfactory profile seduces with refined citrus notes, riper aromas of tropical fruit, floral and mineral sensations. The palate denotes good structure and aromatic fullness, with juicy and dense fruit, supported by a nice vein of savory freshness. It is appreciated when young for its pleasant elegance, but also has excellent aging potential. Excellent pairings with fish dishes, soups or delicate white meats.
